Water intrusion from the failed joint above the pier cap led to corrosion of the reinforcing steel & caused the concrete to spall. CSC used chipping hammers to remove the loose/spalled concrete. The substrate & reinforcing steel was cleaned/prepped by sandblasting. Corrosion inhibitor was applied to the substrate & steel. Prepackaged mortar was applied via a Dry Shotcrete method. An FRP/E-Glass system was applied to contain repairs and add structural integrity to the piers. Once material had cured a UV restistant coating was applied to the FRP material.
