ODOT – Bridge Impact Damage Repairs – BNSF Railroad

Owner: Oklahoma Dept. of Transportation (Tulsa Co.)

System: Dry Shotcrete, FRP/E-Glass & Protective Coating

Complete: 2015

These bridge columns were damaged when a train was derailed and a box car made impact with the bridge.  We removed the existing fiber reinforced polymer E-Glass material, prep the substrate by mechanical means and repaired the spall locations with a prepackaged mortar applied via a dry shotcrete method. Once those repairs were made we applied another system of E-Glass material to the columns/pier locations.  Upon completion a coating was applied to aid against the elements.  It is interesting to note that the E-Glass material in place prior to this project was also applied by CSC and once these repairs were made the bridge was struck again, leading to repair this bridge at the same location for a third time.
