System: FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer)
In Tulsa County, water intrusion from a failed joint above the pier cap led to corrosion of the reinforcing steel causing the concrete to spall. CSC used chipping hammers to remove the loose/spalled concrete. The substrate and reinforcing steel was cleaned/prepped by sandblasting. Corrosion inhibitor was applied to the substrate and steel. Prepackaged mortar was applied via a Dry Shotcrete method. An FRP system was applied to contain repairs and add structural integrity to the piers. Once the material cured, a UV restistant coating was applied to the FRP material.
