In Muskogee County, corrosion was developing within the reinforcing steel on the columns of the bridge. CSC used chipping hammers to remove the loose/spalled concrete. The substrate and reinforcing steel was cleaned/prepped by sandblasting. Sacrificial anodes were installed to aid against further corrosion of the reinforcing steel. A prepackaged mortar was placed utilizing a dry shotcrete method. A Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) system was applied, at specified spacing, to contain repairs and add structural integrity to the piers. Once the material properly cured, a UV resistant coating was applied.
